Computer network is a group of devices (nodes) such as computers, printers, CD or other media device connected to the linkage with the sending and receiving of data generated by other nodes in the network. Information can be transferred in networks via cable, radio waves, infrared rays or satellites. Network users can connect under one roof or from different places.

i. Local Area Network (LAN) : Area Small (10km), schools, laboratories, in
a building.
ii. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN): The larger (10-50km), city, state.
iii. Wide Area Network (WAN) : The area is very large (more than 50km), Worldwide, countries.
Equipment that connects computer networks
i. Bridge
It is a device that connects one network to the
another provided both the network protocol / path
The same sample (ethernet or token ring).
ii. router
A hardware or software which will determine the point of network
in sending the message to its destination and which routes
that must be gone through, according to the level of understanding and compatibility of
a network.
iii. Hub
Hub is the part where the data will come from one or more directions and
it will be sent to one or more directions.
iv. Modem
Is an abbreviation of Modulator-demulator where it
connect one computer to another computer over a network
supplied by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), which is an online provider of internet,
Telekom Malaysia for example.
v. Switch
Network hardware is choosing the route during the process
data transmission to its destination, it is also loaded router functionality
Any hardware or software capable of determining the route for data
will be sent.
